Medicare Compliance
The frequency of surveys has been increasing over the past couple of years, and that trend will continue.    Large dialysis companies have compliance officers to assist their facilities at the local level to prepare for surveys.   HDS provides a Medicare compliance program and mock survey to help hospital-based providers prepare for the survey.   It is never too early to start preparing.  

Staff Training
HDS has developed a formal hemodialysis staff training program designed for both licensed and non-licensed personnel, and contains strategies to facilitate the education of the trainees from classroom to clinical setting.

Patient Care Management
HDS has developed a Clinical Management Program designed to facilitate individualized patient care management through a multidisciplinary care management team approach.   It utilizes a database format that provides

• Risk Assessment Format used to assist the risk factors for individual patients as well as a break out of patient acuity for a dialysis program (rated from low to high risk).
• Monthly Progress Note where key outcomes data is reported on each patient from which a computerized monthly note is generated on each patient and a summary outcomes report is generated on the dialysis facility (i.e. adequacy of dialysis, nutrition, and anemia control).

CQI Program
A Continuous Quality Improvement and Outcomes Management Policy and Procedure manual containing data collection and graphic tools to be used during a CQI assessment; algorithms to assist in the CQI process; and report formats to assist dialysis facilities in trending and reporting clinical targets for their program.
